Itinerary

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. Meet your guide for a briefing on the climb, equipment check, and final preparations. Enjoy dinner and rest in anticipation of the trek.

Elevation: 1,950m to 2,650m Distance: 8 km Hiking Time: 4-5 hours Habitat: Rainforest Start your climb from the north side near the Kenyan border. The trail ascends gently through farmlands and pine forests before reaching Simba Camp.

Elevation: 2,650m to 3,450m Distance: 7 km Hiking Time: 4-5 hours Habitat: Moorland The trail continues through moorland with views of Kibo and Mawenzi. You will camp at Second Cave.

Elevation: 3,450m to 3,600m Distance: 7 km Hiking Time: 3-4 hours Habitat: Moorland A gradual ascent brings you to Kikelelwa Camp, where you can enjoy the stunning views of the wilderness.

Elevation: 3,600m to 4,330m Distance: 5 km Hiking Time: 4-5 hours Habitat: Alpine Desert The trail becomes steeper as you approach Mawenzi Tarn Camp, located at the foot of Mawenzi, the second-highest peak on Kilimanjaro.

Elevation: 4,330m to 4,700m Distance: 8 km Hiking Time: 5-6 hours Habitat: Alpine Desert A relatively easy day as you cross the lunar landscape to reach Kibo Hut. Rest in preparation for the summit attempt.

Elevation: 4,700m to 5,895m (summit), descend to 3,720m Distance: 16 km (up and down) Hiking Time: 10-14 hours Habitat: Arctic to Moorland Begin the summit push just after midnight. After reaching Uhuru Peak, descend to Horombo Hut.
