Setting the stage for your upcoming safari adventure our guide will take you to cultural heritage and maasai Market.
Post breakfast, we set out early to Tarangire National Park, named after the Tarangire River that courses through it. This vital water source sustains regional wildlife during the dry season, earning it the moniker "river of warthogs." The landscape features dense vegetation, including elephant grass and acacia woodlands. Renowned for its elephant herds, the park showcases these majestic creatures gathering by the river. Other sightings might include giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, often trailed by predators like lions and leopards. Tarangire boasts an unrivaled diversity of breeding bird species, making it a global hotspot. The park hosts Tanzania's largest elephant population, making it an ideal spot to witness these gentle giants, from adorable calves to formidable bulls. Following a hearty lunch, we proceed to going camping for dinner and an overnight.
After breakfast, you'll embark on a drive toward Serengeti National Park, passing through the picturesque highland farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you leave the highlands behind, you'll venture into the heart of wild Africa. The drive will take you to the Seronera area, located in the central part of the park and recognized as one of the most abundant wildlife habitats in Serengeti. The Seronera River flows through this region, providing a valuable water source that attracts a diverse range of wildlife representative of most of the Serengeti's species. You'll arrive in time for a picnic lunch and an afternoon game drive in Serengeti National Park.
After breakfast, you'll embark on a game-viewing drive along the Sogore River Circuit which winds through the plains to the south of Seronera River. This area is known for potential sightings of lions, Thomson's gazelles, topis, ostriches, and cheetahs. The Visitor Centre, located close to Serengeti Seronera Lodge, is a must-visit attraction following the morning's game drive. In the afternoon, you'll follow the Kopjes Circuit, which circumnavigates the Maasai Kopjes in an anti-clockwise direction. These kopjes, or weathered granite outcrops, are scattered throughout the plains and serve as miniature ecosystems, providing shade and pools of drinking water after the rains. They're particularly advantageous for spotting wildlife during the dry season, including lions which often lie in wait for prey approaching the watering holes. The kopjes are also home to some impressively large cobras.
Early breakfast will be served at the Lodge. We make a short drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Manyara, a relatively small but diverse park 120 km west of Arusha, is named for the shallow salt lake that occupies a good seventy percent of the park's land. Flooding and drying seasonally, this soda lake is home to thousands of flamingos and over 500 other bird species. On our exploration of the park we will see monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, elephants, and with some luck, lions lounging on trees. The park is known for its diverse landscapes; not only open grassy plains but also primate-filled woodlands and baobab dotted cliffs. We return to Arusha after a packed lunch, our adventure having here come to its inevitable close, arriving in time for your flight back home or a flight to Zanzibar.
